Wind training centre opens in Sault

Sault College is celebrating the grand opening of its Brookfield Renewable Power Energy Training Centre this week. The school and Brookfield Power have collaborated to build a new facility to train a future renewable energy workforce.
A 30-megawatt wind turbine will be generating power for the Student Life Centre on campus. Brookfield, FedNor, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund and Duke Energy (Union Gas) have been funding partners in the training lab. Andre Legault, Brookfield's COO of Canadian Operations will be in attendance at the July 17 opening. The new centre contains a mechanical shop/training area and a machine shop.
